Quote of the day:
"The best managed companies have leaders focused on the future, not on today."
When I meet with executives these days, I'm generally seeing people concentrating on current issues. Thinking about a week from Friday is long-term planning. I've been trying to pull attention into slightly longer term issues, such as recovery readiness assessment, but it feels like pulling teeth.
Suggested exercise:
- How much time should you currently be allocating to issues the are critical to
___ the current month
___ next month
___ next quarter
___ the following 12 months
___ beyond that
In answering, you may consider the likelihood that you won't make payroll this week, and all other aspects of where your business stands today.
2. How much time did you spend on these categories last week?
___ the current month
___ next month
___ next quarter
___ the following 12 months
___ beyond that
3. If you should be spending more time on longer term issues, what are the top three issues that you should address?

4. If you decide that you need to devote more time to longer-term issues, then who is going to kick your behind if you fail to do that? ___________________
If your answer was nobody, then find a coach, consultant, friend or spouse who is willing to kick your behind.
