Manufacturing activity is rebounding, based on the latest Institute for Supply Management Report on Business (which we used to call the Purchasing Managers Index):
Factories are not in the stratosphere, but the are definitely moving upward. I’m increasingly sighing with relief and lowering the odds that we’ll go into recession.
Business Planning Implications: Contingency planning for a downturn always makes sense, but do some upside thinking as well: are you prepared for an increase in orders, for having to find more good employees, and for the strains on a balance sheet that come from growing sales? Give it some thought.
