More on Great Speaking

After my recent post about CEOs as speakers, I came across a description of a great speech in Guy Kawasaki’s blog (which is very good).  Kawasaki is a VC, a former Apple Fellow, and a prolific writer.  His first compliment (of 15 specific points that we can all learn from) is: "She wastes no time and immediately sucks you into her speech . . . ."  How much better that approach is than the common, "I’m happy to be here.  Really happy to be here.  Joe, that was a kind introduction.  Joe’s an old friend of mine.  Really great guy.  And I’m really happy to be here."
