After my recent post about CEOs as speakers, I came across a description of a great speech in Guy Kawasaki’s blog (which is very good). Kawasaki is a VC, a former Apple Fellow, and a prolific writer. His first compliment (of 15 specific points that we can all learn from) is: "She wastes no time and immediately sucks you into her speech . . . ." How much better that approach is than the common, "I’m happy to be here. Really happy to be here. Joe, that was a kind introduction. Joe’s an old friend of mine. Really great guy. And I’m really happy to be here."
